How to Send a Letter to a German Authority by Post — Online, No Printer or Stamps
In Germany, many important letters still have to be sent on paper: an objection (Widerspruch), a contract cancellation (Kündigung), a reply to the Jobcenter or the Ausländerbehörde. But there's no printer at home, no stamps and no time to queue at the post office. BriefMagic can print and send the letter for you.
How it works
- 1. Choose what to send: a letter BriefMagic wrote for you, your own text, or a ready file (a PDF or a photo of a document).
- 2. Enter the recipient's address — best copied from the authority's letter you're replying to.
- 3. Choose the delivery type and pay online.
- 4. The letter is printed and sent by regular post. You are the sender — it's your letter, not ours.
What it costs
- Standard letter — €2.50. Fine for most replies and requests.
- Registered letter (Einschreiben) — €5.50. With proof that the letter was sent and delivered.
Sending is paid separately and is not included in the subscription.
When to choose registered mail
- When a deadline is running: Widerspruch, a reply to an Anhörung, a cancellation with a cut-off date.
- When you need to prove the letter arrived: cancelling a contract, sending important documents.
The post takes a few working days. If a deadline is close, don't wait until the last day. For the Jobcenter there's also the online route via jobcenter.digital.
What to check
- The recipient's address and the case number (Aktenzeichen) in the letter.
- That the letter carries your name.
- Keep a copy — in BriefMagic it stays in your history.
BriefMagic sends letters in your name and on your behalf and does not provide legal advice.
